Some customers of car rental companies only need a vehicle for an outward-bound journey and this service is available, mostly from the larger car rental companies who have several locations around the country. You will pay extra for this service but it is obviously worth it if you don’t want or need to return to that location. To rent a car you will be required to show a current UK driving licence for the type of vehicle you want to rent. Most companies also require your credit or debit card details unless you are going to pay by cash. Giving your card details does have implications though, as if the company believes you are liable for any extra charges i.e. damage to the vehicle while in your care, they can take the money direct from your bank account and you then have the problem of fighting to get the cost reimbursed if you can prove you were not responsible for the damage. This can be time-consuming and annoying. Another consideration is age. Most car rental companies have a policy of restricting car rental to those under 70 years of age although there are a few who will allow it up to 75 years of age. Anyone of that age who wants to rent a car who need to ask around the car rental companies in their area to find one. Most car rental firms offer manual transmission cars as the ‘norm’, but if you only have a licence to drive automatic transmission vehicles you can only rent that type of car. Again, as it is not an ordinary run-of-the-mill car rental expect to pay more.Car Rental
